Watchtower and UN?

is this issue of the watchtower being part of the un department of public information of any significance?

at the district conventions of jehovahs witnesses there are flags of the united states and other sovereign government such as states or other countries hanging from the buildings.

the governing body and the watchtower society rent buildings which become the equivalent of kingdom halls for the weekend.

Wandering during the meeting is it getting worser? Or maybe betterer!?

i was forced to go over to the hall near my house to pick up my g-mother in laws wheelchair for the assembly.

she keeps one there that reclines for when she goes to the hall (usually once a year or so!

ha) anyway she needed it so i had to go get it!

The women could use the kid excuse to get up and take a break. If they don't have one, they could always borrow somebody elses, on the excuse of giving them a break

That's right Satanus ... I had four children while in the b0rg - that means for YEARS I could take a break in the bathroom or mother's room ! Sometimes they were sooooooo fidgety I could spend almost the entire meeting in there talking with the other 'sisters'. Of course I breastfed too - imagine whipping out a tig-ol-bittie in the main hall to feed a baby .

Wife is pretty much done!

i haven't been here much for the last 6 months or so because... (drum roll please) my wife has pretty much called it quits!

she's not been to a meeting now in over a year!

(well she went to visit a gung-ho friend for the weekend and went to one sunday) no service in at least twice that long!

I've noticed that women will go through changes at pivotal ages/stages in their life. At 29 is when I began to question the choices I made and the direction my life was going (I had also done so at 20 and 25). That's when I was ready to leave the b0rg for a better life.

I think the most important thing is for you to just BE there and LISTEN to what she's going through. Don't push her right now ... you may push her right out the door if she feels her freedom to choose is hampered. She'll figure out what she wants to do as far as education, career etc. in her own time. It's a process - she has to find HER true personality as she discards the psuedo person she's cloaked her self in for conformities sake. Now that she's disconnected from the b0rg the world is her oyster. Make sure YOU are the pearl inside .

in my jc meeting i kept on at the elders about love.

that there was no love being shown in the congregations & even toward me on how they were dealing with the whole situation & towards my mother.

i mentioned that there were only 2 commandments given to us - 1. to love god & 2. to love our neighbour.

I wish there were no pain in my life.

Willy - If you find the origin of your pain you can eradicate it. It wasn't until I let go of the botchtower teacings that fear and pain began to subside for me. I then began to look within and find out why I was still carrying all that hurt around ... it's about self-discovery. If I can't understand myself then how can I be effective in life? Question: If your faith in the bible is so sure then why the pain anyway??? Why do Christians accept pain and suffering as a way of life? I don't believe it's supposed to be that way ... at least not for me.

, she's not really quoting scriptures. she's saying things that sound obtuse enough to be biblical, but she doesn't provide any reference to a passage. she's either plagiarizing the bible as her own thoughts by not including a reference or she is just completely bonkers.

LOL - doogie. Reading comprehension has always been one of my strengths. I was wondering why I couldn't understand WTH she was trying to say!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not feeling sorry for myself, but so far(almost 1 year) anything I have said seems to get the response...yeh, whatever...

1. Consider your audience.

2. Do some research outside of the Bible and you'll have more to talk about.

3. Open your mind to the possibility that perhaps there is more than just ONE path to understanding the Divine.

4. Your born-again-ism is no different than JW'ism ... believe as WE believe of DIE! (thus the reason you quoted the scripture about sodom and gommorrah???)

5. This is an EX_JW discussion forum. Most believing Christians quote scriptures respectfully in order to present their point of view, even though they most people here won't agree. I don't have a problem with that at all. It's when people try to tell ME about ME, and what THEY think of my relationship with God that I get heated!

Go deeper child into That which is closest and most intimate. See if you can find any blemish, boundary or division here that could prevent It from being the very embodiment of Love. Stop reducing God to a thing, deity or object. Then you will have nothing for the mind to grasp and place far away. Discover what is right here, right now. Realize what you really are and have always been. Discover what has no beginning and no end."

Religion is not about unity but disunity. If EVERYONE would ascribe to the doctrine of love, the world would be a better place.

michelle ... my Lord is what "I" choose to believe in. Most people in the US have been exposed to religious teachings and can either take them or leave them ... their choice. I spent 11 years of my life trying to convince people to believe as I believed - then I found out that it was lie. I won't do that again! That is no longer my mission.

My life's purpose is to love God, love myself, love and show compassion for others (not by condemnation, but by understanding and helping whenever I can) and leave the world a better place. Now if you consider that to be hypocritical then so be it.

We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love the brethren, he who does not love his brother abides in death. Whoever hates his brother is a murder, and you know that no murder has eternal life abiding in him. By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?
My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.
Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.
